Bridge Engineer in Pennsylvania. This candidate will report out of our Altoona or Mechanicsburg, PA office locations, where we provide a hybrid work environment, and will be utilized on a full-time basis.

This role will include performing simple and complex analysis, design, and documentation of various transportation structures with emphasis on single and multi-span bridges, culverts, retaining walls, foundations, sign structures, and ITS structures. This position will work closely with our Director of Structural Engineering to help expand this discipline companywide. This position will function as a technical leader, will coordinate overall design activities, project submissions, and will be responsible for additional Quality Assurance and Quality Control duties to help ensure the final products meet the technical requirements and goals of our clients.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Performs and checks design calculations, prepares technical specifications, prepares cost estimates and other construction documents, and successfully delivers projects to completion
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of existing structures
  • Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget and schedule
  • Issue reports, schedules, estimates of probable costs
  • Assist with responses to SOIs, RFPs and other pursuits
  • Assist with developing budgets and scopes of work
  • Perform peer reviews and expert reporting

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering
  • Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Pennsylvania is preferred
  • Well versed in PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission standards, procedures, and specifications
  • 5 to 20 years of experience with inspection & design of bridges and related highway structures
  • Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and other highway structures

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid multi-State Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in PA. Licenses in surrounding states such as MD, NJ, DE and/or NY is a plus
  • Bridge Safety Inspection certification is a plus
  • Familiarity with design and analysis using various materials including steel, precast and cast-in-place concrete; prestressed and post-tensioned concrete and timber.

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Possesses knowledge of PennDOT design software
  • Possesses knowledge/understanding of finite element and 2D/3D modeling program(s)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
  • Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate with others to explore alternative solutions
  • Comfortable performing in an environment that requires independent evaluation, judgment and decision making
  • Proficient with Microstation and/or Open Bridge Designer

Position: Construction Scheduler
The CPM Scheduler will report through JMT’s Pennsylvania Construction Management Team, and support both JMT and external clients such as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and other owners. The Scheduler shall work closely with Project Supervisors or Managers and when necessary shall also interface with site staff as necessary to compile data for cost and time status on projects. The Scheduler is required to coordinate with project engineers, consultants, other departmental agencies and also with contractor representatives performing work related to review of CPM schedules for Transportation Projects primarily related to roads and bridges.

The scheduler provides expertise in the area of project controls, scheduling, scheduling analysis, earned value management, and construction activities in support of the Construction Program.

JMT is seeking a Construction Engineer for the Pennsylvania CM/CI division.
